Love the pics of the kids in the snow and backyard. Glad the snow experience ended on a happy note. The wine country video was a special treat -- it feels so much a part of me. I will echo his advice about simmering a Parmesan rind in the soup -- I learned that 25 years ago from Marcella Hazan and it transforms whatever you are making into something divine! Some of his advice is easier in California -- I wonder about buying fresh lemons out of season here vs frozen lemon juice, probably put up in season. I now use spray oil only to prevent sticking in baking, but I bought a pump spray for olive oil and it was a disaster (plus you need to clean it often). Now I just use a little oil and toss well.jovaliquiltshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04658198685121310571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6290556872805002105.post-20729326631737429352009-01-06T15:52:00.000-08:002009-01-06T15:52:00.000-08:00Yes, it's a lot different when you're making a bri...Yes, it's a lot different when you're making a brief and deliberate trip to the snow for the sole and simple purpose of play.Jeff Holmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13918497897403740607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6290556872805002105.post-69434266579277357942009-01-05T11:53:00.000-08:002009-01-05T11:53:00.000-08:00It's so interesting to see snow from a Californian...It's so interesting to see snow from a Californian perspective. You shcould pick door 2 because he's eliminated door 3 as a choice, increasing the odds it's door 2, so it's 66% likely to be door 2 and 33% to be door 1. Believe it or not, we live in earthquake country out here. We've had two since we've lived here, and the worst ever earthquake known in the US centered on St. Louis and caused damage through a huge midwestern area because our soil type greatly increases the damage radius over what you have in California.
